It is not common knowledge that icon painters, for the purpose of creating holy images, often enough use cutting boards. Why? Because it is a very durable base – a product of elaborative, yet rough woodwork that will last for generations. With this in mind, we commisioned a series of works painted on cutting boards, decorated with motifs borrowed from Japanese prints, oeuvres of European masters, or simply with nature-themed imagery.
